Local businesswoman and tourism pioneer, Bunny Bhoola, has been appointed by the Minister of Tourism to the board of the Tourism Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Charter Council.
Minister Derek Hanekom said he had every confidence that Bhoola would “assist in advancing the course of transformation in the tourism sector”.
The city’s senior manager for special projects, David Gengan, who has worked closely with Bhoola in various economic development, cultural and tourism platforms, said her appointment will “definitely” benefit the sector.
“Bunny Bhoola’s appointment to the Tourism BBBEE Charter Council is a wonderful testimony to a successful, tenacious, highly motivated and committed entrepreneur in the Tourism sector, and is truly a feather in the cap for her and our city. She has functioned in the tourism sector under extremely difficult circumstances, and is an inspiration to up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Her appointment will definitely advance the cause of transformation in the sector,” said Gengan.
