With the relevant sections of the regulations issued under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in relation to information officers’ duties and responsibilities coming into effect on 1 May 2021, and the Information Regulator having provided an indicative date of 1 May 2021 by when its intended online registration process would be available, your planning in relation to the registration of information officers and deputy information officers and their assumption of the duties and responsibilities under POPIA is critical.
