Women’s Day | August 2022
This morning we celebrated our incredible team of MD women and enjoyed a Women’s Day breakfast at our offices.
We also donated 70 sanitary towels from both our staff and management to the young girls at the underprivileged school, De Duine Primary in Lotus River, for 2022 Women’s Day.

We donated to The Haven Shelter in Claremont and made 72 sandwiches. We dropped 50 with them and the rest was handed out to homeless folk the same day.

“With the recent flooding affecting areas in Kwa-Zulu Natal once again, the SAICA Board and its staff send their condolences to members and associates and their families who have been directly affected by this natural disaster.
As a membership body, SAICA prides itself on being part of a community that rallies behind the nation in times like these. It is for this reason that SAICA initially launched the SAICA Business Emergency Rescue (BER) initiative. As previously communicated, the BER exists to find ways in which SAICA and the profession can assist members and associates with advice, expertise and services to rebuild their businesses as well as help those affected to deal with the emotional and mental distress that comes from unfortunate events like the floods in the last few weeks.
Within the BER, we launched the SAICA Difference Makers: Business Emergency Flood Rescue Assistance programme when KZN and parts of the Eastern Cape were first affected by floods a few weeks ago. We once again remind our members about this initiative, following the devastation in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend.
In this regard, SAICA has partnered with Gift of the Givers to provide an opportunity for members, their organisations as well as SAICA staff to contribute financially towards the relief efforts aimed at assisting those affected by the floods. SAICA has engaged Gift of the Givers in this regard to facilitate a more streamlined and direct process of administrating the welfare fund and members and associates can make a contribution directly to Gift of the Givers.

This year we once again contributed towards this very worthy cause and supported the Santa Shoebox initiative. We had to do things a little differently again, due to COVID-19. We donated R10 000 to be able to help provide gifts and toiletries for little children in need, especially during these very challenging times.

In fact, it is currently the only residential care facility in the Wynberg District which provides for girls between the ages of 3 and 18 who are abused, abandoned, neglected and orphaned. Children from failed foster placements and those with behavioural problems are also cared for. We also care for children infected and affected by HIV/Aids.”

This year we did things a little differently, due to COVID-19 and the lockdown. Instead of making our own boxes or having a staff function, the staff took a vote and decided to have MD donate R9 000 towards this very worthy annual cause.

Once again this year we took part in this amazing cause. Our team bought bandanas and wore them to work and decorated the office with sunflowers to show our support and to help raise funds as well as awareness.

A number of our staff supported Casual Day again this year on 06 September 2019. Well done to Lionel, Jade, Majdah and Sam, who all won prizes for ‘Best Dressed’. Thank you to our team for contributing towards this very worthy annual cause.

The Mustadafin Foundation was established in 1986 during the Apartheid era. It emerged as a result of political unrest and violence in the Crossroads township. Crossroads, at that time was isolated and violence that erupted was due to faction fighting. It had a devastating effect on the local community, particularly women and children. We were privileged to have taken part in the SAICA Blanket and Beanie Drive this year in celebration of Mandela Day 2018.
This year, we donated 40 blankets and 12 beanies and made a cash donation to those less privileged than us as part of the SAICA Blanket and Beanie Drive.
